Not more difficult, but a little more involved than painting steel, yes.
Aluminium requires two more steps to ensure that standard automotive paint
sticks.
Contact you local paint supplier or body shop to obtain
recommendations. Aircraft and transports have been doing this for years, so
there is lots of talent around to assist with this.
